America’s Favorite Singing Cowboy, Gene Autry, was born on September 29, 1907 a few miles outside of Tioga, Texas. Today we celebrate our Cowboy’s 115th birthday by sharing some of Gene’s personal memories. In 1987 Gene and his good friend, Pat Buttram, reunited to tape the television show Melody Ranch Theater. Each episode featured one of Gene’s classic Western movies, cut down for television, with original opening and closing segments where Gene reminisced about making the movies along with a wide range of subjects.
